National Conference

04 – 06 November 2011

The Leitrim Branch of the Irish Foster Care Association, with the support of the HSE West is proud to have the opportunity to host the 2011 National Conference. The conference is unique in that children are welcome. A wide programme of events are put in place for every age group thus promising to make it a very enjoyable weekend for all the family. It will be held on November 4th, 5th and 6th in the Landmark Hotel Carrick-on-Shannon.

The launch of the National Conference of IFCA was held in the Landmark Hotel Carrick-On-Shannon, Co. Leitrim on July the 5th 2011.

Speaking at the launch, Chair of the Conference Committee Noreen Kelleher pointed to the need to develop a fully functioning aftercare service to support children leaving the care system.  "2011 is IFCA's 30th anniversary and given that the organisation has spent much of that time advocating for a professional aftercare service, it is appropriate that the theme of this year's conference focuses on aftercare and preparing children for a life after leaving the care system.  We are extremely lucky to have two people of the calibre of Fr. Peter Mc Verry,  and Prof Robbie Gilligan as key note speakers for the conference."
